Newtonmore - Strathspey Mountain Hostel

Located in the centre of Newtonmore and within easy reach of the Cairngorms and Monadhliath mountains, Strathspey Mountain Hostel is an STB 2 star hostel, fully double glazed, re-roofed and rewired, with comprehensive modern insulation throughout. The hostel is a member of the STB Eco-Tourism Scheme and of The Independent Hostels and Backpackers Scotland (IHBS) Group. We are also a member of the STB Disabled Access Scheme (level 2). We have been awarded the bronze award in the VisitScotland Green Business Tourist Scheme. Our facilities are suitable for families, individuals and groups and a warm welcome is assured. Unlike the SYHA we have no daytime curfew restrictions or rules on drinking in the hostel. The owners are long standing members of RSPB, Greenpeace, Sustrans, MLTB, BASI and BCU and can provide excellent local information. Newtonmore - Alvey House Hotel.

Bill and Alison Mason welcome you to Alvey House, a friendly small hotel with spectacular mountain views, situated 20 minutes from Aviemore. We provide excellent cuisine and hospitality in a relaxing atmosphere. Evening meals are freshly cooked and there is a well stocked cellar offering a good choice of wines. There are seven newly decorated ensuite bedrooms with colour TV, tea/coffee trays and hairdryers, a relaxing lounge with open fire, an elegant dining room and a sun room. Drying room/equipment store and laundry facilities also available. The surrounding area offers walking and climbing to suit all tastes and abilities with over 60 Munros ranging from 5-55 minutes drive of the hotel.
